THE PROBLEM
According to the National Institute for Literacy, 20% of children in today’s school system are identified as have learning disabilities. This doesn’t mean they can’t learn, it just means that they learn differently from the other children in the school.
The process of getting help for a child can be a long and frustrating journey for many parents. Because learning disabilities are quite often neurobiological in nature, they are frequently misdiagnosed or overlooked altogether. If no obvious learning problem is identified, these children are often labeled as “lazy” or “underachievers.” If children are not prepared to use all of their cognitive processes effectively, they will be ill equipped for the future and be unable to maximize their full potential. The bottom line is, children must be able to confidently and to clearly “THINK” before they are able to effectively “LEARN.”
OUR SOLUTION
At OTEP, we are developing software that uses fun and engaging videogames to identify and improve cognitive weaknesses in school-aged children. We believe that by playing games in the privacy of their own homes, we can more accurately determine cognitive trends that may lead to learning problems. More importantly, once we have taken a cognitive inventory, we can use videogames that target the weak areas to strenghten them.
Using today’s cutting edge technology and our own unique processes, OTEP helps parents navigate through these very personal and challenging issues through our state-of-the-art “Think-2-Learn™” web portal.
